RuneScape reached a two million account milestone

  • Jagex is shutting down RuneScape Classic after 17 years.RuneScape Classic is, basically, a picture of RuneScape since it initially released in 2001. That first version has seen two major improvements in the years because, also as (slightly confusingly) the coming of Old School RuneScape - a version of this game much more or less as it had been at 2007.

Since RuneScape has evolved and grown though, RS gold has continued to reside in a dusty corner of Jagex's servers. It's not updated or formally supported by the programmer, but access is still permitted to particular players.

In its article announcing RuneScape Classic's closed, Jagex explained that"It has been amazing to see such dedication amongst those of you who have kept playing RuneScape Classic over the past couple of years [...] But it's not all fun and games.

"With improvements in technology helping to further support both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape, our resources are no more compatible with Classic. This is particularly a problem with our network security and macro detection tools. The game is now easily abused with the usage of 3rd party macro tools, and botting is getting an increasing issue."

Worse still, says Jagex, is the fact that it"can no more offer long term buy Runescape gold service reliability due to the rising danger of unrecoverable game breaking bugs". The bugs, it stresses, can't be repaired"because of the unsupported nature of the match".
