Washington State offensive tackle Andre Dillard! The Eagles traded up ahead of the Houston Texans at No. 23 to make this pick. Philadelphia sent No. 25 (first-rounder), No. 127 (fourth-rounder), and No. 197 (sixth-rounder) to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for No. 22 overall. As it currently stands, the Eagles only have four remaining selections in this year’s draft. Offensive tackle was a need for the Eagles with 37-year-old Jason Peters likely set to play his last season in the NFL this year. Swing tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai is also set to be an unrestricted free agent after the 2019 season. It’s also possible the Eagles could look to trade Big V this offseason. If the Eagles trade Vaitai Chuck Bednarik Jersey , Dillard figures to be Philly’s top tackle off the bench behind Peters and Lane Johnson. Even if Vaitai is retained, Dillard could push for that spot in 2019. Dillard projects to be the team’s starting left tackle once Peters likely retires in 2020.Some may wonder what the Dillard pick means for Australian sensation Jordan Mailata. The feeling here has always been the Eagles can’t merely count on a guy who only started playing football last year to be their sure-fire Peters replacement. Besides, it doesn’t hurt for the Eagles to “over-invest” at a position like left tackle. Protecting that Carson Wentz guy is important, after all! Dillard measures in at 6-4, 315 pounds and he tested very well for his size. He’s a little on the older side for a rookie considering he turns 24 years old in October. With Foles gone, unproven Nate Sudfeld opens camp as backup with veteran Kessler as insurance.EXPECTATIONS: It's Super Bowl or bust for Eagles after winning it all for first time two years ago. If Wentz stays healthy, he has talent around to make offense dynamic. Defense has questions at linebacker but plenty of depth to be strong.
